FOGAL'S KNOW-HOW SINCE 1921

step 1

Yarn Selection & Preparation

The process begins with selecting high-quality yarns such as nylon, elastane, silk, or wool, depending on the desired texture, elasticity, and durability of the tights.Yarns are then prepared for knitting. Some, like nylon, are typically dyed after knitting, while others, such as cashmere or wool, retain their natural color. The choice of dyeing method depends on the fabric type and the final look intended. Once prepared, the yarns are wound onto spools, ready for the knitting stage.

step 2

Knitting

Circular knitting machines weave seamless tubes of fabric with a fine-gauge structure, ensuring a smooth and comfortable fit. The knitting process determines the tights' size, elasticity, and overall feel.Different knit patterns can be applied to achieve various effects - sheer for a delicate finish, opaque for full coverage, or textured for unique designs and added depth.

Step 3

Toe Closing & Seaming

To ensure maximum comfort, Fogal developed a special seaming technique for the foot area to prevent discomfort. The fabric tubes are cut to the required length, and the toe section is sewn using a flat seam for a smooth finish or hand-linked for a seamless feel. Additionally, larger sizes (such as XL) are designed with a reinforced heel for better fit and support, while smaller sizes maintain a heel-free construction for a sleeker look.

Step4

Dyeing & Finishing

For tights made from synthetic fibers like nylon, dyeing takes place in industrial machines to achieve the desired color. Natural fiber tights, such as wool or cashmere, often retain their original hue.

Additional treatments may be applied to enhance quality and comfort, including softening for a smoother feel, antibacterial treatments for freshness, and reinforced durability to extend wear.

step 5, 6 & 7

Step 5

Boarding & Shaping

To ensure a perfect fit and a smooth, wrinkle-free appearance, tights are heat-shaped on metal leg forms in a process called boarding.

This step helps set the fabric’s elasticity, defining the final shape and enhancing the overall comfort and durability of the tights.

Step 6

Quality Control

Each pair of tights is carefully inspected for any defects, including holes, uneven dye, or weak seams.

For premium styles, an additional hand-checking process is carried out to ensure flawless quality. Fogal implements double quality control to guarantee the highest standards before the tights reach the customer.

Step 7

Packaging

Each pair of tights is carefully folded, paired, and placed in branded packaging to ensure a polished presentation.

Once packaged, they are prepared for distribution to retailers or shipped directly to customers, ready to be worn and enjoyed.
